AI that does the wholesale busywork.
SparkLayer AI turns emailed orders and files into baskets, answers questions using your real B2B data, shows your team which accounts need attention and drafts the next step. SparkLayer MCP can also bring the same data and approved actions into AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude.
The Intelligent Cart
Watch an order build itself.
Your customer emails an order, sends a spreadsheet or takes a photo of a stock sheet. Intelligent Cart reads the request, matches what it can to your real catalogue and builds a basket using that customer’s pricing and pack rules. Anything uncertain is flagged for you to review rather than guessed.
AI, built into the B2B work you already do.
You should not need to move B2B work into a separate AI product to get value from it. Sparkie and Intelligent Cart work with the customers, orders, quotes, pricing and rules already in SparkLayer. They help your team understand what is happening and prepare the next action.
Built into SparkLayer, not bolted on.
SparkLayer AI works with the customers, orders, quotes, prices and rules already in the platform. It does not need a second copy of your B2B operation just to be useful.
Ask questions in plain English and get answers using your own customers, orders, quotes and sales metrics.
Turn spreadsheets, PDFs, images and forwarded order requests into baskets ready for review.
Surface customers due to reorder, going quiet, waiting on a quote or needing a follow-up.
Turn SparkLayer metrics into a readable explanation of what changed and which accounts drove it.
Prepare a relevant customer email using their real buying history and account context.
Through MCP, approved AI tools can inspect SparkLayer configuration and prepare supported changes for you to review.
Every answer, basket and draft comes from your real orders. SparkLayer still controls the prices, products and permissions.
Let AI handle the messy bits. Keep the important bits in SparkLayer.
AI is good at understanding natural language, interpreting documents and turning messy requests into something structured. It should not be inventing a customer’s price, deciding whether they can buy a product or bypassing the rules of your B2B operation. SparkLayer remains the source of truth for those decisions.

what changed?
- natural-language questions
- emails and documents
- ambiguous product descriptions
- account activity
- written summaries
- draft communications
SparkLayer decides
- which product that is
- how many they can order
- what the numbers actually are
- products and customer access
- pricing and discounts
- pack sizes and quantities

- payment terms
- permissions
- whether the order is valid
AI interprets the request. SparkLayer decides what is actually allowed.
Model Context Protocol (MCP)
Now connect the AI tools you already use.
Your team may work in SparkLayer, ask Sparkie or spend part of the day in tools such as ChatGPT or Claude. SparkLayer MCP lets approved AI tools use specific SparkLayer data and actions directly, without building a custom integration for each AI workspace. SparkLayer still controls what the connection can see, what it can prepare and which rules apply.
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard for giving AI tools controlled access to external software.
Understand and maintain your SparkLayer setup from the AI workspace you already use.
Ask an approved AI tool to inspect price lists, customer groups and supported configuration, explain what it finds and prepare a change for review. This is useful whether you are a merchant, an agency or a SparkLayer implementation team.
list_price_listsget_pricing_configurationlist_customer_groupspropose_price_list_changeFor changes, SparkLayer shows you the proposed result first. You decide whether to apply it.
Ask SparkLayer questions about the business, not just its settings.
The same SparkLayer metrics that power Pulse can be made available through MCP. Ask about reorder timing, customer activity, open quotes or sales performance and receive an answer using definitions already calculated by SparkLayer.
get_customer_snapshotget_reorder_opportunitiesget_open_quotesget_sales_summaryThe AI does not invent its own definition of “overdue”, “lapsed” or “customer value”. Those metrics come from SparkLayer.
It can only do what you are allowed to do.
Your permissions
The connection inherits the access of the SparkLayer user behind it. If that user cannot change pricing, the AI tool cannot change pricing either.
Specific tools
AI tools receive named SparkLayer actions, not unrestricted database access.
Your confirmation
For supported changes, SparkLayer shows you what is being proposed before anything is applied.
An audit trail
SparkLayer records the connection, action and resulting change so you have a history of what happened.
Use SparkLayer from the AI tool that suits you.
Your teams may work in different AI interfaces. The SparkLayer data, permissions and business rules underneath them do not change.

Building or implementing SparkLayer?
Your team spends time checking configuration, comparing environments and repeating setup work. SparkLayer MCP gives approved AI tools a structured way to inspect supported configuration and prepare changes, so your team can move faster without bypassing SparkLayer’s validation and permissions. Check a merchant’s price lists, compare staging with production, find missing customer-group configuration or prepare supported setup changes. If your team already uses Claude, ChatGPT or coding agents day to day, you can connect them today.
What is MCP?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard that lets AI tools use approved functions from other software. SparkLayer MCP exposes a controlled set of SparkLayer data and actions. An authorised AI assistant can inspect information, answer questions and prepare supported changes without receiving unrestricted access to SparkLayer.
Is SparkLayer MCP available today?
Yes. SparkLayer MCP currently supports a defined set of tools for reading SparkLayer configuration and B2B data, together with selected configuration changes that can be reviewed before they are applied. Get started and we can help connect a supported workspace.
Does connecting an AI tool give it access to everything in SparkLayer?
No. The connection is tied to an authorised SparkLayer user and merchant, and only exposes the data and actions that connection is permitted to use.
Can it change my SparkLayer setup?
For supported changes, yes. The AI can prepare a proposed change, SparkLayer validates it and you review it before it is applied. The AI cannot bypass SparkLayer's permissions or business rules.
What can I ask about my B2B data?
Things such as which customers are overdue to reorder, which accounts are becoming less active, what a customer normally buys, which quotes need attention, how B2B sales are performing and where a sales rep should focus. The answer uses metrics already defined in SparkLayer and SparkLayer Pulse rather than asking the AI to work them out from raw data.
Is MCP the same as Sparkie?
No. Sparkie is the AI assistant built into SparkLayer Pulse. MCP is the connection layer that lets approved external AI tools use specific SparkLayer data and actions. They can rely on the same underlying SparkLayer tools, but the interfaces are different.
Does MCP connect SparkLayer to Shopify Sidekick?
Not directly. Shopify Sidekick uses Shopify's own app-extension framework. SparkLayer can expose similar underlying capabilities through Sparkie, MCP and supported Sidekick integrations, but they are separate connection methods.
Can agencies use SparkLayer MCP?
Yes. Agencies can use supported MCP tools to inspect configuration, compare environments, troubleshoot setup and prepare approved changes. This is particularly useful for teams implementing or managing SparkLayer across multiple merchants. Talk to us about MCP for your agency.
What is Sparkie?
Sparkie is SparkLayer's AI assistant, built into SparkLayer Pulse. Ask it about customers, orders, quotes and sales activity and it answers using data and metrics already held or calculated in SparkLayer.
What is the Intelligent Cart?
Intelligent Cart turns a buyer's email, file, image or product list into a SparkLayer basket. It matches what it can against your real catalogue, flags anything uncertain and then lets SparkLayer apply the customer's normal pricing and ordering rules.
Is my data used to train AI models?
For SparkLayer's own AI features, no. Sparkie conversations are scoped to your merchant account, and sensitive information is minimised before it is sent to the model. Files and emails used by Intelligent Cart are kept only for processing and then removed. If you connect an external AI service through MCP, that provider's own privacy and data policies also apply to the data you choose to share with it. The Trust Center has the detail.
What does the AI cost?
Sparkie and other AI-assisted features use AI credits. An allowance is included with eligible plans, with additional usage available when needed. SparkLayer MCP availability and usage depend on your plan. See current pricing or talk to us for details.
